Anticlastic [an-tee-klas-tik] The word synclastic describes a form where the main curves both move in the same direction. When the two main axes curve in opposite directions the result is known as an anticlastic form. A bowl is a synclastic form and a saddle is an anticlastic form.

Repoussé (French pronunciation: [ʁəpuse] or repoussage [ʁəpusaʒ]  is a metalworking technique where an impressionable metal is decorated or shaped by hammering, using specific tools,  from the back side to create a design in low relief.

Chasing is the opposite technique to repoussé, and the two are used together to create a finished piece. It is also known as embossing.

Vitreous  [vi-tree-uhs] in enameling vitreous means a thin layer of glass that is fused to metal using high heat.

Liver of Sulfur is mainly used in metalworking to create a patina, turning copper alloys brown or black.

Patina  is a tarnish that forms on the surface of bronze and similar metals (produced by oxidation over time or other chemical processes.)
