Geometrically Decomposing the chengellian woman

The Chengellian Woman - A study in proportion, geometry, and other worlds The female energy amidst the male energy - the divine feminine with mathematical geometric formulas. How 1 folds into the other like a yin yang. The ethereal images are the opposite of math yet made of math. Through many different techniques of enameling I have created pieces expressing my curiosity of this world.

The first comprehensive book on jewelry as an art form showcases a collection of today's most exclusive jewelers

Coveted provides a vital survey of the field, profiling more than 70 of the most prominent designers working across the globe today. In thematic chapters featuring exceptional pieces from each artist's extraordinary oeuvre, the book explores their conceptual approach, provenance of materials, quality of design, composition, and workmanship, revealing what makes these creations not only coveted objects of exceptional value but also works of art.

“Enameling Lab: Sharing an Obsession”

Picture
Sat, Jun 17, 2017-Sun, Jun 18, 2017 -- 10:00 AM-5:00 PM at Creator Haven LLC

Experimenting with different enameling techniques and processes will be the emphasis of this class, having the opportunity to fuse enamel onto copper with both a hand-held torch and the kiln. Alter metal with color and texture using sifted and liquid enamels. Specific techniques include sgraffito, stencils, graphite, foils, how to add images with iron oxide decals, plus some other rather unconventional materials. Whether you are new to enameling or more experienced, you will learn ways to push the limits of your artistic thinking.

Registration will open at 10:00 am on May 18. You must be a member of MBMAG to enroll in this workshop. Not a member? Join today!

Is context everything? Does history provide a more accurate insight into the art making process for women, or does the ability to surpass context mean more? It's essential to examine our history by sourcing the wisdom of established artists, as well as inquire of our emerging artists the direction we are heading. Similarly, this range of artists may provide better insight into one another's path.

Is there a consensus of collective experience that shapes the landscape of art making today? Does time and effort make the artist? Is the artist a composite of their experiences or the external forces of the art world? Empowered without, or within? This show reflects on women's history, examines our present, and thoughtfully opens a path to an understanding of our future, by celebrating the insights and revelations of this dynamic group of artists; women.
