Fold form leaf from a study of holes. I'm interested in how things change and age, wear out, develop holes, how we try to alter or fix these changes.
This pair of earrings formed and enameled with bitter green vitreous enamel. They are a little more than an inch long and have sterling silver ear-wires made especially for these earrings
Fold-forming allows you to take a hard cold piece of metal and make it look like something soft and organic.
Enameling is the art of fusing glass to metal. Enamel (glass) is crushed to a powder like the consistency of fine sand. This powder is then applied to a metal surface. Then the piece is heated either in a kiln, or with a hand-held torch. I prefer using a torch because I like to watch the enamel flow! More coats, normally different colors, can be applied. Sometimes 10-20 firings are required to bring about the desired results.
These earrings will be carefully wrapped in silk, inside a gift box, tied with raffia and packaged inside a cardboard box shipped USPS first class. Cost also includes delivery confirmation.
These earrings will be made especially for you, please allow 3-5 days for fabrication.
